It's better to focus on creating unique, quality content, and once you have it up, then go look at traffic boosters like technorati, MBL, alexa, squidoo and the like. I downloaded it and put it on my ipod and listened to it on train. What blew my mind is how they spilled the beans on exactly how to manipulate Alexa rankings. No vague theory, but exactly how to do it. Other's would charge for this I bet. I have been testing and it is starting to work. They are right. All the numbers are crap. I am considering doing this because on lots of sites (e.g. text link ads) it makes your blog more valuable so you can earn more...Perhaps you could do an experiement of some sort? So, I switched to mybloglog and there's a big boom..Frankly speaking, it's not much for some of bloggers, but having consistent 60-70 unique visitors everyday is a great achievement for me.
