One reason which I've learnt is that the keywords which you bid is not relevant to your ads. Hence, when Google is reviewing, your quality score will be low. That may be one of the reasons why your quality score is affacting your cost per click, though nobody is competing with you.
Hope it helps!

It is useful and fast to use AdWords to drive traffic to your website and earn the sales. However, the point here is to try to lower down your cost per click so that you are able to have a reasonable profit even if you were to promote on a low cost product.

Hence, if your cost for the keyword is $0.50 per click, then you have to do some optimisation for the keyword before you dumping money on AdWords. In that way, the profit margin for you will be higher.

In my report, there are some tips on how to lower your cost per click, which you can consider.

Cheers,
Jasmine

Google's quality score keeps kicking my butt.
I can't stand it!
I must have read countless ebooks and watched countless videos on how to improve your quality score, but it doesn't work.

There can be no one advertising of a keyword, and Google wants 25 cents per click! There is no one competing with me! Why am I paying so much?

A nightmare.
