Is Blogging to the Bank 2.0 really effective?

Perhaps that is one of the first questions for those who are interested in getting the Blogging to the Bank 2.0 ebook will ask. This ebook is the later version of its predecessor, Blogging to the Bank. The author, Rob Benwell, wrote his first Blogging to the Bank ebook and shook the whole blogging arena. Many people bought the ebook and applied the techniques which he disclosed, and the results with their blogs were astonishing. For those who were unable to earn a single cent from their blogs, they are able to start earning money. However, those techniques from Blogging to the Bank have become outdated and ineffective now. Hence, today Rob Benwell has written the updated version of Blogging to the Bank, with the latest techniques of blogging.

There are some topics, covered in the ebook, which I like. One of them is on the topic of plugins. Rob mentioned on the kinds of plugins which every blogs should have. These plugins will enable the blog to get indexed by the search engines faster. Besides that, Rob also talked about search engine optimisation so that your blog can be optimised. You can also look at this article to know more: Blogging to the Bank 2.0 Review.

Next, Rob also included a chapter on how to research for high-paying affiliate programs and how you can earn money from AdSense from your blog. In fact, he has also included the most optimised layout for your blog so that you can easily earn a significant amount of AdSense money from your blogs. Besides that, he also disclosed how to research for high-paying keywords so that you can earn higher amount per click.

The last thing I will like to mention is the web 2.0 techniques. Rob talked about using Squidoo and Digg to boost your blog traffic. Though some of you may have already knew about Squidoo and Digg, there are still some features which most of us might have overlooked and are really useful for to attract traffic to our blogs. I must say that I benefited much from this topic.

Though the ebook provides really simple and effective stuffs, there are a couple of typing errors here and there. But if you are not so much of a perfectionist, then I must say that this author used simple to understand English and his instructions are easy to follow. Best of all, the methods work! Hence, if you are not have results as good as Rob Benwell’s, then I strongly believe that you will need to check out Blogging to the Bank 2.0 to know what he is doing.

Remember that we mentioned about joining JetSpinner so that you can join over 300++ article directories with little effort? Well, we are happy to receive emails that some of our readers did join JetSpinner already.

Yes, we understand it can be quite tiring to go to your email and click all the confirmation links send to your email but this is only one time effort and it is really better than you typing your name, website, username, password, etc etc. Hence, clicking links are far easier than typing in all those entries, right?

For those who are reading this for the first time, JetSpinner is a service which can help internet marketers or bloggers to submit their articles to 300+ article directories with little effort. Since you have taken so much effort to write that piece of article to share your knowledge with others, why not let more people know about you and your unique piece of knowledge or point of view?

If you are thinking of submitting by yourself, (As I have mentioned it in my previous post, we have tried that ourselves to save that few pennies) but in the end we simply gave up as it is really tedious and useless. You can read about my previous post for the whole story.

Anyway, really thanks to those who trusted our recommendations.

ps: For those who are interested in JetSpinner, you can visit this:

Lately, we found out of a way to boost our traffic and signed up for it. That is to write and submit articles to article directories. I suppose quite a number of us already know writing articles is another method to attract traffic to our blog. In fact, these traffic are mostly free traffic and part of them are quite targeted ones, since they have read your articles and interested to find out more from your website/blog. Also, as Google and other major search engines will go to these article directories to index for information, your articles will be indexed by these search engines too. Hence, you are able to enjoy the benefits of free traffic from both article directories and search engines.

There are many article directories on the internet. Therefore, you can imagine the potential of having so many backlinks from them. Moreover, when there are some webmasters found that your articles worth posting on their websites, then you will get even more backlinks. So can you see how powerful this technique can be?

We have seen it. Hence, we decided to sign up for article directories and started to submit articles to them. To our horror, there are over thousands of article directories! When I have signed up less than hundreds of them, my fingers got cramps (serious). Typing over and over again my particulars and and activating my account. It was really tedious. The worse part is to submit our articles to the directories. Lester and I have to submit one by one. It is really no joke about it. When we have submitted our articles to all the directories we have submitted, they found out one fundamental fault in our actions.

What is it? Google, and perhaps other search engines as well, hates identical and duplicate content. My god! This means all our efforts have gone to waste because we submitted the same article to all the directories. Google will only index 3–4 links only. So much efforts, yet it is useless. Until lately, we found JetSpinner. It is quite useful because it helps to us to register to over 300+ article directories and best of all, it is free. At last, we dont need to continue to register the rest of the article directories on our own. Also, it helps us to generate over hundreds of unique articles from your very own master copy. This will be good enough to “satisfy” the search engines. Anyway, we will also dont have the time to write over hundreds of unique articles or money to pay ghost writers to write so many articles for each and every directories.

Hence do use JetSpinner, instead of going through all the agony and mistakes which we make.

Remember that Lester once blogged about exploding your blog traffic and he recommended us to join BlogExplosion? Well, recently our blog went for a battle with another blog, with our miserable amount of credits. Though we have lost our first battle (unfortunately), we find that not all are lost. We found out something which is even more important than winning the credits from your opponents. What is it?

Through this blog battle, we found that we have gained much traffic from blog explosion to our blog. This strikes us that BlogExplosion can be another revenue of traffic for bloggers. (Of cos, if you are talking about targeted traffic, then this is not the right choice for you. ) So, how does BlogExplosion work? When you sign up, and surf other members’ blogs, you will be awarded with credits. When you vote for other members’ blogs during battle of blogs, you will be awarded too. That’s where all the potential traffic for your blog is.

The first source of potential traffic is from those members who surf other members’ sites. Your blog will have many chances of being visited by other members, since there are already quite a large group of members registered under BlogExplosion. Hence, your blog will be likely to gain some traffic from there.

The second source is what we considered as a better of the two. When you have earned enough credits, you can compete with another blog. You can fight against another blog to win his credits. But first, during your battle, members will come to vote for either your blog or your competitor’s. Usually, when they are making a decision, they will be likely to visit your blog. In this way, you are able to gain traffic, no matter if you win or lose. Best of all, these traffic is free. Also, when you are battling out, your battle will be on limelight, especially when the amount of credits used on the battle is high. More people will be interested and hence, more people will visit your blog. Moreover, the more battles you have went, your blog will have more exposures. In turn, more viewers will tend to remember your blog. Of cos, this type of competitions will push you to improve your blog so that you can win more battles for more credits.

Hence, you can consider joining BlogExplosion to driving traffic to your website, and wish you an exploding success!

It is important to choose a good domain name for your website. Having a domain name which is able to attract high organic traffic is already half the battle won. With viewers/ customers typing in your domain name to search for products which they need desperately, you are able to profit with these free traffic. Yes, there are people who will just put in products/services which they need into the address bar straight away, without the use of search engines. This leads us to the first method of choosing a high traffic domain name.

1. Choose a domain name which is related to the product which you are selling

Say for an example, you are a florist and you sell flowers. It will be best to include the word “flowers” into your domain name. It will be even better just to have your domain name as www.flowers.com. So when buyers who type in flowers.com, they will go straight to your website. However, such generic domain names are most likely be taken up by others already. Hence, you might want to add some adjectives into your domain name to make it slightly different. For instance, tropicalflowers.com. if you are selling mostly tropical flowers. In this way, your website is still given higher priority when comes to search engine results, while your “type-in” customers are not all lost. This is definitely a good method to gain both the “type-in-to-address-bar” customers and customers from search engines, because search engines will give higher priorities to websites have the exact searched word in their domain name.

2. Choose a domain name which ends with a .com

Forget using a domain name with a .net or a .org. A .com domain name is easier to remember than the rest. Most of the people are more likely to type .com, instead of a .net. Hence, do not try to be unique in this sense, because eventually it will hurt the amount of traffic going to your website.

3. Look out for expired domain names

If you dont mind using “second-hand”domain names, you can check out those expired domain names. Some of these may have done some SEO and attracted much traffic previously. The previous owners may have too many domain names to handle or they may simply forgotten to renew them. Hence, if you are able to get hold of such domain names, then much work and optimisation have been done for you. In fact, you will have instant traffic from them, right away. However, a word of caution, do really check out what that domain name is being used for. They might be used by spammers and being banned by search engines. You dont want to be associated with the wrong things and have a bad start instead.

4. Choose a short, easy to remember domain name

It is better to choose one which is easy to remember, easy to pronounce and easy to spell domain name. Though sometimes we may like to choose some thing which is unique for our domain name, we still like to make it not too confusing for our potential customers. Also, if your domain name consists of words starting and ending with the same letter, note that there many be potential confusion. For instance, Charles Socks.com. People maybe wondering if it is charlesocks.com or charlessocks.com. Sometimes, people may be confused if they should add a “s” behind the word or not. Hence, do consider all these factors, because you dont want to lose those valuable traffic away.

With these 4 points, I hope that you are able to come up with a high traffic domain name for your website.

Perhaps you have already noticed the movers & shakers when you visit Alexa’s homepage, but have you thought about the reasons to their rapid increase in ranks? Maybe you can also learn something from these traffic magnets and become a traffic magnet yourself.

I have been thinking of the reasons why some websites can move so fast up in ranks within one week. In fact, some of them can easily increase in terms of thousands of percent, in their ranks. The best part is they did it within one week. I began to check out what their websites involve with. I noticed that quite a number of the websites which are in the top 10 list of movers are news related. For instance, this website which features on the late celebrity Anna Nicole Smith has moved 18,000% within just one week. This is one kind of websites which readers will search for when an event has happened. Another will be the sports results/ events. People are anxious to know the latest sports results. Hence they will always look out at the websites to know the latest results asap.

Though these news related movers can explode their ranks tremendously within a week, their ranks usually dont stay for long. More often then not, their ranks will also drop as soon as everyone has read about the information and left. Unless the updates are so frequent like newspapers, or their websites will drop real fast. Hence, if you are thinking of using news to boost your traffic rankings, then you need to have to update your website with news almost everyday to maintain the high traffic rankings. Also, you will need to be real sensitive with your surroundings, because your website needs to be updated almost real time. If not, what is considered as news to you might already become old news to your readers already. Your readers might have read it from your competitors’ websites. Though this method is really tough to keep up, this can be one of the methods to increase traffic rankings.

One of websites which has succeeded in using news to sustain their rankings is Yahoo!. It has frequent updates on all kinds of news. Be it sports, financial, world or local news. Hence, most visitors will automatically go to Yahoo! when they want to find out on the latest news since it is reliable and most updated. Therefore, everything is possible if we just put a little thought to it and become an Alexa Mover.

If you havent been visiting Alexa, then perhaps it is time for you to take a look at your Alexa rankings. They have a new look to their traffic rankings page. Now, they have included bar charts of visitors of various countries coming to your website and it looks something like this.

Besides that, they also put in your website’s ranking in the different countries, on the same page for our reference.

I feel that these data is useful to me, especially to judge where do the bulk of my visitors come from. In my case, it is mostly from Singapore (which is my hometown) and United States. This particular information is important when your product is specific to a particular countries or groups of countries. Also, Alexa has included the traffic rank in other countries, which let you observe if your website has progressed in ranking in the countries of interest. Another way to see these information is the places of opportunities. For our case, we have been targeting mostly the United States and United Kingdom traffic. However, from these two data alone, we can see that Hong Kong is another area which we can look into. That is, another area of opportunity which we never thought of. Perhaps, you can also find something which you havent thought of by looking and analysing the information from Alexa.

Next, there is some changes to the way they present the reach for the website being searched. Instead of showing the exact number of internet users visited the site per million, they are giving in terms of percentage, which is kind of simple to convert it back to the exact number users. For the other two indicators, the rank and page views, they are still the same.

Though there are many websites or articles which mentioned that Alexa ranking can be easily manipulated, I find that most of the time it is the owner of the websites who manipulate the statistics, which I thought they are just cheating themselves. If the contents of the website is good, then there is no need to increase your own rank or page views. Readers will be attracted to your website to read your post and be hungry with what you have to say. In fact, I find that one should not even try to visit your own website, so that you can get the actual picture of what your website is getting. Hence, whatever data you are analysing will not be corrupted by your own actions.

In the next post, I will be mentioning more on Alexa website.

Most of us will religiously blog almost every other day so that our blog is updated to benefit our viewers. However, when we check out the number of readers visiting our blogs are so miserable, we become dishearten. Does this sound familiar to you? Have you wondered why is attracting traffic seems so simply to the gurus, yet it is so difficult to you? Something which is so near, yet so far. I understand that, and at times, we just feel like giving up and go back to our 9–to-5 jobs. But, have you ever considered these tips while you are blogging? Perhaps, the following tips can help you boost your blog traffic, and your morale as well.

1. Have your readers in mind – WIIFM

What is it for me? That should be the No. 1 tip which every blogger should remember. Most of the readers are trying to get some information out of your post/blog. Hence, if you are able to give as much information as they need, they will be more interested to come back to your blog for more. However, remember that your viewers are also very busy people. They want information fast. Hence, keep it (your post) short and simple, or K.I.S.S in short. If you can make any explanation through diagrams, that’s even better. This will enable them to have a deeper impression on what they have read on your blog.

2. Participate in forums, related blogs or social communities

Personally, I find that participating in social communities are quite useful in attracting traffic to your blog. As forums and communities are places whereby many people come together, it is a good opportunity to introduce yourself and your blog. Also, I am fond of going to communities as there is a wide spread of viewers from different countries which we can attract to our blog. For blogs, I will like to read other people’s blogs which are related in topics. This will enable us not to be lack behind from the latest news/ information. You wouldnt want to blog on something which are old information for your readers, right? Hence, be more pro-active to communicate which other bloggers.

3. Have a goal in mind

Only when you have a goal in mind, then you can think and tweak your mind to move towards your goal. Only when you have a goal, then you will not become like a housefly (flying in circles, and not to your destination). Only when you have a goal, then you can see if you have achieved it and move on to higher targets. Of cos, you have to set reasonable targets.

One thing which I have find out is that we know there are a lot of different ways to attract traffic, do this, or do that. However, I think it is best to stick with a few methods and do it well. Personally, I used to read quite a bit of ebooks from different gurus, who explained many many different methods to achieve one aim. I got excited whenever I read a new method. However, I didnt achieve much in the end. I find that it is best to choose a few methods which you are confident of doing, and do it well.

With these, I hope you will start getting traffic which you should get in the first place. Also, remember to practise the same steps until you are good at them.

Pagerank is Google’s way to determine the importance of a website for a certain set of search terms or keywords. Though the Pagerank is not the only factor which gets you a good ranking for a search result, it is an important factor given all other conditions being the same. So if you have a site with high PR, you could potentially be ranked high in Google search engine results for a certain set of keywords.

If two sites ever published the same article at the same time, the website with the lower PR may even worse not be ranked at all in Google since the first site which have the content indexed is the owner of the content and all subsequent indexing of the same content may be considered as duplicates.

So this could potentially happen if a website with a high PR hosts your original article before your low PR blog get indexed for the effort. The high PR site could simply return a reference to your blog and gets away with it. In this way, all the organic traffic which could be yours in the first place become theirs.

Is there any way we can stop this?

The answer is no as there is no way to manipulate Google search engine results. The site with the higher PR will always be on top of you in terms of search engine result for the same set of keywords.

For those with high PR, you may well make this your advantage and increase your profits through the efforts of other poor souls.

For those with low PR, you can only hope that your article is spidered first before anybody comes along and remove you from the search engine result. And please re-edit the PLR articles before publishing it since duplicate content will penalise your site even more. Lastly, try to practise some search engine optimisation to improve your PR to prevent this from ever happening.

The test result is out! I did an experiment to see the effect of inconsistent blogging has on my Alexa ranking. True enough, my ranking suffered a dip. Seems that inconsistent blogging do hurt your traffic significantly if you do not have a consistent stream of traffic. Remember that I mentioned previously that blogexplosion can increase your traffic significantly though it may not be targeted. I feel that massive blog exposure is the key if you are still a newbie. You may not be able to sustain a targeted stream of traffic if you still do not have enough content on your blog.

Take a look at my Alexa graph.

My curve has been quite constant with a reach of about 10. And I had been thinking of new ways to bring my traffic to the next level. There are many documented methods and you can easily search for them using Google. An integrated approach to combine all the traffic generation methods may be good. But it is enough to master one traffic generation method, instead of being a master of none.

So, how to increase your alexa traffic ranking? Constant experimentation is the way to go. Theory is nice but is useless unless you can get it to work.

And so, I would like to share 3 tested ways with you to improve your alexa ranking.

1) Increase your reach

Social networking is a very good way to generate more traffic. Join mybloglog and blogexplosion and you will soon see an improvement in your ranking.

2) Sustain your traffic

Posting daily is the fastest way for a blog to increase its content. With good content posted everyday, you will soon have a stream of loyal readers coming back regularly to read your blog.

3) Increase the stickiness of your blog

By constantly tweaking your site to make it easy for others to read your old posts and to allow others to participate in some discussion on the ideas you share, you can boost your page views significantly. This will in turn boost your ranking since page views is one of the criteria in determining your ranking.

Do these for 3 months and I guarantee that your Alexa ranking will improve significantly.

Tags: Alexa ranking, blogexplosion, social networking, traffic generation, mybloglog, stickiness, reach, page views
