Squidoo - Usefulness of Squidoo Lens to Internet Marketers

Well, that is Squidoo. More and more people are going into making squidoo lens nowadays. In case you are not aware of Squidoo, I will briefly describe what Squidoo is all about. Basically, Squidoo is a website whereby people, from all over the world, will create a “mini-website”, or what we called a Squidoo Lens. They will create a lens based on whatever topic they are interested in. Topics of lens can range from polar bears to how to bake a cake, to even a life story of its lens master. Any topic which you can think of can most probably be found in Squidoo.
Enough of description said, many people are busily creating lens now. In fact, there are more than 160,000 lens made, as of today! That’s about 4 new lens being created at each minute. Some wanted to share their information, while some marketers wanted to make use of lens to promote their products.
Why marketers like Squidoo lens so much? Simply because Google loves Squidoo! By creating a simple lens on Squidoo, your lens will be indexed by Google quite quickly, compared to a new website. This is particularly useful as marketers can make use of Squidoo for advertising their products. In fact, I have made some sales, just by making a lens of it. It is free and it helps to pre-sell your product, even before your potential customers read the sales letter.
Hence, Squidoo proves to be another method of advertising, instead of the conventional pay per click method.

Squidoo for all of the above reasons is quickly becoming home to a lot of clickbank spam. All people do is post up the sales letter with their aff link on squidoo. Voila, instant millions!

Yes. I agree. But there will come a time when all the spamming lens wil be hit hard. The purpose of a lens is to presell and not to just put up a sales page without providing value.

Hi Lester,
Squidoo is really a great resource. It can be used together with article marketing as well. Coupled with social bookmarking and Craiglist, that will drive a ton of backlinks to your lenses and boost your lenses’ rankings high.
The great thing is Squidoo actually encourages affiliate marketing.
Nonetheless, as you mentioned, it has led to spamming and spammers are already starting to see their lenses being removed.
Just hope that these spammers won’t spoil the effectiveness of Squidoo in the long term.
