My computer just crashed on me. I am really shocked when I saw a blue screen while booting up my computer as usual. The blue screen says something like this
- Stop C0000218 {Registry File Failure}
- The registry cannot load the hive (file):
- \systemroot\system32\config\software
- It is corrupt, absent, or not writable
Put it simply, this means that either your registry is corrupted or your hard disk is spoilt.
Often this means that you have to waste a few days to get your computer up and running if you have to get a repairman for help. I don’t know whether this will cause any loss of income to your online business, but it is quite frustrating for me not to be able to blog, surf the net and read and follow up on my emails at all for the past few days.
Always remember to backup your registry and data regularly. You do not want to lose access to the internet and the precious ebooks or videos which you have bought online, and worst, your business accounts.
All is not lost if you do backup often. If you ever encounter this error during booting, you can go here to look for the remedy.
The moral of the story, remember Murphy’s law and backup your computer on a regular basis.
PS. If you don’t understand the steps to bring your computer back, leave me a message and I will offer my help.
