Evosuccess New Face
Evosuccess is taking on a new look. You may have noticed the changes that are taking place if you have been reading the blog lately.
The changes was meant to faciliate easy reading of previous post and to allow easy browsing. The changes are not completed yet as there are some problems that are not solved. The ironic part is that new problems always appear when the old ones are solved. Right now,
- The search bar is not currently working real time.
- The archive link at the top of the main page is not working yet.
- Due to changes in the permalinks, redirects are used to inform the search engines to reindexed the pages.
The first 2 problems can be easily solved by changing the permalinks to /%category%/%postname% to /%postname%. However this leads to another problem. All my previously indexed page will now point to an “PAGE NOT FOUND” page.
This can be solved easily by using the permalink redirect plugin. However this plugin causes the first 2 problems to reappear. It is sort of an chicken and egg problem.
In weighing the importance of search engines traffic with the errors now plaguing the blog, I chose to keep the permalink redirect plugin. So to solve all problems, waiting is the only best solution. In time, the search engines will reindex all my posts due to the 403 redirects I used. After all the posts are reindexed, the redirect plugin will be removed to solve the first 2 problems.
Sorry for being so technical. I am just trying to share some of my technical knowledge with you. You may find it useful if you decide to change your permalinks one day. Hope these tips come in handy one day. And not to forget, these permalink changes also help in improving the SEO of the blog. In the meantime, please bear with the “PAGE NOT FOUND” error and wait for the search engines to finish their job. :)
