Do You Have These 5 Characteristics to Make BIG in Affiliate Marketing?
January 22nd, 2007 by Jasmine Chee
More people are jumping into this business and trying to get a piece of this pie. But are you the type of person who can snatch a piece of the pie? To find out, do ask yourself if you have the following 5 qualities or not. This is REALLY important, because without these, you can hardly survive.
1. Determination
You must have this so that you can push yourself forward, constantly. The ability to push yourself to greater heights will determine what type of future you have. I remembered that a fellow internet marketer said this to me:
The game will end only when you throw the towel.
From then on, I keep reminding myself not to give up and you should not give up too.
2. Discipline
It can be really difficult to make sure you make yourself in front of the computer everyday and spend some time on your internet business. This is especially true when you still have a full time job and family. However, do not give yourself excuses. You must have the discipline to spend time on YOUR business. Try to schedule a specific time to spend on setting up/ maintaining your business. For instance, 1–2 hrs before your bedtime. On this area, I must really admire Mr Ewen Chia. He is really a discipline and determined person. Before he is successful, he always make it a point to start working on his internet business from 11pm to 3am, even though he still had a full time job at that time. Hence, we must have the discipline in order to succeed.
3. Invest Time and Effort
Needless to say you really need to invest the time and effort to your business. Some times, it is really quite distracting with so many more interesting activities happening round us. However, we really have to invest in some time and the effort to build our business. Perhaps, you can join some social networks to keep you excited with your business or a easier way is to join our list! From time to time, we will send emails to encourage our readers to build their business. This is really important for those who are doing their business alone.
4. Desire to Learn
Indeed, it is quite tough to venture through an unfamiliar territory, especially if your lacking the right knowledge. Hence, you have to got the strong desire to learn. With that, you will have to be willing to keep your minds open to others’ experience and absorb from others.
5. Optimism
Be Optimistic! Never get discouraged by anything from pursuing your dreams in order to make life better for themselves or anyone around them. The attitude you have towards the business should always be good, because you’ll have to realize that you’re the captain of your ship and your the one steering it towards destiny. If you are worried that you will get discouraged easily, it is best to find ways to get constant flow of encouragements. This is really useful, especially when your business is not doing as well as you have expected it to be.
With these 5 qualities, I bet you will become a famous person in the area of affiliate marketing.

Hi Jasmine,
5 great qualities you have. But I would like to add 1 more charachteristic. It is to be focus. At time, I found that there are so many things to do in the business and we may lose focus at time and end up doing nothing or not much.
By the way, how did you get to know IM. Great to know you are a singaporean too! Have been wanted to meet affiliate marketer in Singapore.

Hi John,
Thanks for adding on to the list. It is true that we may lose focus at times, especially when there are so many distractions round us. However, we have to keep reminding ourselves whether what we do now DO help us in the future.
Hi Jasmine,
I came into your site via the 2000 bloggers thingy, which I thought was a brilliant idea to spread a little love around while driving visitors.
While I am not an affiliate marketer per se, I do appreciate some of the tips and techniques which the field offers. Some of it boils down to the ability to write well and engage people’s attention down the line.
My own blogging style tends to be a little eclectic. While I do blog about marketing (traditional, social media, PR, lifestyle), I also intersperse them with more personal experiences and thoughts on what’s happening in the scene.
