Stretch your goals!
Goal setting is the most important thing you should do before you start any business. Be it affiliate marketing or anything else. This is the first step to success.
Most of the people have set their goals in the beginning of the year. But the results will vary depending on the type of goal you set for yourself. If you have set an incremental goal for yourself, e.g. to achieve an 10% increase of profits from your marketing business, I can almost guarantee that you will reach your goal but you will not have any extraordinary results. This is because you would have achieve that result even if you continue your current methods.
By stretching your goals, you set an almost impossible target for yourself to reach. E.g. To earn a million dollars in the first month of your newly started business. This is almost an impossible goal to achieve because there are very few people who have actually done it within a month.
Here the magic that lies in a stretch goal. It forces you to think out of the box. Everyday, you will wake up enthusiastically to start your day to reach that goal. You will begin to do things which you will never have done. At the end of the day, even if you did not achieve your goal, you will achieve far better results which you will never achieve if you stick to your old methods.
Remember, the more stretch your goals are, the better your results will be. You may want to use the SMART principle as a guideline.
Always be specific in your goals. Instead of saying you want to be finacially free, you say that you want to make a million dollars by the end of the year. This would be achievable if you are really determined. Annouce your goal to everybody. This will have a miraculous effect in pushing you nearer to your goal. Great post, Lester. This is the first post that I’ve read on your blog. Earlier this month I’ve realized that stretching my goals help me achieve and learn more. On my blog, I posted about earning over $1,000 on one of my sites that only earned $91 so far this month. I decided to stretch my goals to achieve more.
